About/What is Labour License?

As per theShop & Establishments Act, all shops and commercial establishments operating within each state are reuired to take required to take Labour license from the respective State Authorities.The Shop and Establishment Act in India is promulgated by the state and may slight differ from state to state and lists obligations for every employer .

All the commercial establishment needs to display Shop & Establishment registration certificate in their premise. It is mandatory to register under Shop and Establishment Act within a month of commencement of work. A labour license is valid for a year and you have to renew it after it expires.

Applicability

Any shop or commercial establishment that commences operation must apply to the Chief Inspector for a Shop and Establishment Act License within the prescribed time.

Procedures/Steps
